About Us

North York Alpine Racing Club (NYARC) is an alpine racing club in the heart of Toronto, which offers a quality, accessible racing program for youth 6-18 years. Being a small club gives our participants greater personal attention in a smaller group sized training environment.

We are one of the few clubs who train mid-week evenings, instead of weekends. With smaller crowds on the hills during the week, this naturally allows for greater social distancing on the ski lifts, hills and in the chalet.

The club has been providing an opportunity for young skiers to improve competitive ski racing skills without having to join a private club or travel great distances since 1999.

NYARC families share a keen interest in skiing and your children will learn to race in a supportive environment with our dedicated coaches.

We train young racers between the ages of 6 and 18 yrs.

NYARC racers train mid-week evenings during the winter at the Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre in the heart of Toronto and compete within Alpine Ontario’s Southern Ontario Division inter-club racing circuit.

  • Our 8 week on snow program helps to strengthen skier skills through structured coaching and races.
  • Our racers learn to control and carve their skis by teaching them how to ski gates, progressing to slalom and giant slalom racing.
  • Our team of expert ski coaches provide professional advice based on individual needs and the latest ski racing techniques.

Whether your child’s skiing level is that of an intermediate or an expert skier, NYARC will be able to improve overall performance in a relaxing and family-friendly environment. The emphasis is on having fun, learning new skills and developing a competitive edge.

NYARC is a non-profit competitive ski club based on a child supportive and full family participation structure.

Volunteer parents run the club in compliance with Alpine Ontario requirements, through a board of directors and dedicated volunteers.

** Please note that parents of U8/10 racers are expected to assist coaches with this group’s training on a rotating schedule basis. .

We encourage parents/volunteers to get involved, as there are many opportunities in a smaller club such as managing a team, helping during training sessions, becoming an Alpine Ontario official, helping run the races or organizing a club social event.

What Parents are Saying About NYARC

My daughter started racing a few years ago in U8, she’s now U14. It has been a great way to get into winter, make new friends and build her confidence. She is thriving in the competitive side of racing program, but the big plus is learning to be a part of a team!

My son began as a hesitant, unsure U10 and has now become a confident and competitive U14. He has made friends and loves his team! Equally important, NYARC’s experienced coaches are teaching him the skills he needs to enjoy the sport of skiing for life.

While I may have failed at getting my kids to pick up snowboarding, I had no problems convincing my 2 kids to join NYARC. My kids were familiar with Earl Bales from ski lessons there, but NYARC provided that next challenge in skiing. We especially enjoy the fact that the training is within the city and that we are only travelling for race events.
